Veteran Affairs Officer Candidate Filing Period Continues

This notice is to all Pickens County veterans honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States of America that an advisory election will be held among Pickens County veterans on Saturday, May 13, 2017 to nominate a candidate to the Pickens County Legislative Delegation for recommendation to the State Director of Veterans Affairs for appointment as Pickens County Veterans Affairs Officer. The Pickens County Veterans Affairs Officer serves as the department head of the Pickens County Veterans Affairs Office. The position is part-time.

Citizens desiring to be candidates in this advisory election may file with the Board of Voter Registration & Elections of Pickens County at their office inside the Pickens County Administration Facility (located at 222 McDaniel Ave Suite B-9, Pickens, SC 29671) between 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday, beginning on Monday, March 27 through Friday, April 7, 2017. This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation will be placed on the ballot. The filing fee for this office is $232.25. Checks must be made payable to the Pickens County Treasurer. Citizens filing as a candidate must present proof of being a veteran with honorable separation (DD214 or Honorable Discharge papers) and proof of residency in Pickens County.
