Six Mile Town Council Special Election

On March 28, 2016, Six Mile Town Council Member Jeffrey Dennis submitted his resignation from Six Mile Town Council effective March 31, 2016. You may view his resignation HERE. In accordance with SC Code of Laws 7-13-190 (E) and 8-1-145, a special election shall be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 to fill his unexpired term on Six Mile Town Council which ends December 2017. This is a non-partisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.

Registered voters who have lived in and have been a resident of this municipality for a period of not less than 30 days immediately preceding the date of this election may file as a candidate beginning at Noon on Friday, April 15, 2016 until filing closes at Noon on Monday, April 25, 2016. Candidates will file with the Town Clerk of Six Mile at Town Hall (106 S Main St, Six Mile SC 29682) during normal business hours of M-F 8AM-5PM. At the time of filing, each candidate must complete a Statement of Intention of Candidacy Form and pay the filing fee of $15.

Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the State Ethics Commission at http://ethics.sc.gov. Failure to file these documents may result in a candidate fine but will not disqualify a candidate from the election. Contact the State Ethics Commission for more information

In accordance with SC Code of Laws 7-13-190 (E), no special election shall be held if only one candidate files during the filing period and no person has filed a written declaration to be a write-in candidate with the Town Clerk by Noon on Monday, May 9, 2016.

Every person offering to vote in this Special Election must be duly registered on the County Books of Registration, as an elector and a resident of the Town of Six Mile, 30 days prior to the date of election. The last day to register to vote (or update your voter registration information) for this Special Election will be Saturday, May 21, 2016.

The following Pickens County precincts and polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.:

The processing of absentee ballots will begin at 9:00am on election morning, June 21, 2016, in the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County in the Administration Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave, Pickens, SC 29671.

The provisional ballot hearing and canvass for this Municipal Election will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 9:00am in the County Council Chambers inside the Pickens County Administration Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave, Pickens SC 29671.

A runoff election, if necessary, due to tie will be held two weeks after the election on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
