Notice of Hearing on Provisional Ballots

As required by Section 7-13-830 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws, the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County, serving as the Pickens County Board of Canvassers, will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional (challenged) ballots cast in the November 6, 2012 General Election.

The provisional ballot hearing will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 at 9:00am at the following location:

Inside the Pickens County Council Chambers (Auditorium)

Pickens County Administration Facility

222 McDaniel Avenue

Pickens, SC 29671

If you are the challenged voter: You are entitled to be present at this hearing.  You are entitled to be represented by legal counsel and to present evidence. If you forgot to bring your Photo ID to the polling place, you must show one of the following Photo IDs to the Pickens County Board of  Voter Registration & Elections no later than the time of the provisional ballot hearing for your vote to count:

o    S.C. Driver’s License

o    ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles

o    S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo

o    Federal Military ID (includes Veterans Administration Card)

o    U.S. Passport

If you did not have a Photo ID because you suffer from a reasonable impediment and you completed the affidavit, your vote will count unless the Pickens County Board of Voter Registration & Elections has grounds to believe your affidavit is false.

If you are the challenger:  You may be present at the hearing and present evidence. Prior to the hearing, you may present written evidence to the Pickens County Board of Voter Registration & Elections.  If you do none of these to support the challenge, the ballot will be counted.
