Candidate Filing Opens For Municipal Elections

The Pickens County Registration and Elections Commission will be conducting elections in the municipalities of Central, Easley, Liberty, Norris, Pickens, and Six Mile on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009. The following offices will be on the ballot for each municipality. Central – Mayor and three Council seats, Easley – Combined Utilities Commissioner, Council Wards two, four, and six, Liberty – Mayor, Council Wards one and two and one at-large seat, Norris – two council seats, Pickens – three council seats, Six Mile – two council seats.

Citizens interested in becoming candidates in this election may file beginning at Noon on Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 until Noon on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009. Candidates will file at the City Hall in the municipality in which they reside and wish to run for office. At the time of filing, each candidate must complete a Statement of Candidacy, Statement of Economic Interest, and pay the filing fee set by each municipality.
