Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners Candidate Filing

Deadline—Noon, July 15, 2024

Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners are non-salaried officials who are elected to four-year terms. Candidates must be registered voters in the county and district for which they are seeking office. For a description of the duties and responsibilities of the Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners, please contact the Pickens Soil & Water Conservation District at 864-878-6155 or the SC Department of Natural Resources at 803-734-9100.

These elections are nonpartisan and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. The elections are conducted by the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County at the same time other county and state officers are elected in the November 05, 2024 Election.

Candidate filing closes at noon on July 15, 2024. At the time of filing, each candidate must submit to the county election commission a nominating petition with the signature of one hundred qualified registered electors or one percent of the qualified registered electors of the district, whichever is lesser. The form of the petition must comply with the requirements in Section 7-11-80, and a sample petition may be found at https://www.scvotes.gov/nomination-petition.  There is not a filing fee for this office.

City of Clemson Municipal Election Candidate Filing

Noon, July 18, 2024 through noon, August 01, 2024

The Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County will be conducting the City of Clemson Municipal Election on November 05, 2024. This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. The following offices will be on the ballot for Clemson: Three (3) City Council Seats and one (1) Mayoral Seat.

Registered voters who have lived in and have been a resident of this municipality for a period of not less than six (6) months immediately preceding the date of this election may file as a candidate beginning at noon, July 18, 2024, until filing closes at noon on August 01, 2024. Candidates will file with the City Clerk at Clemson City Hall (1250 Tiger Blvd., Ste. 1, Clemson, SC 29631) during normal business hours.

At the time of filing, each candidate must submit a completed Statement of Candidacy Form and pay the $10 filing fee.

Watershed District Directors Candidate Filing

Deadline—Noon, August 15, 2024

Watershed District Directors are non-salaried officials who are elected to four-year terms. Candidates must be registered voters in the county and watershed district for which they are seeking office. For a description of the duties and responsibilities of the Watershed District Directors, please contact the Pickens Soil & Water Conservation District at 864-878-6155 or the SC Department of Natural Resources at 803-734-9100.

These elections are nonpartisan and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. The elections are conducted by the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County at the same time other county and state officers are elected in the November 08, 2022 Election.

Candidate filing closes at noon on August 15, 2024. At the time of filing, each candidate must turn in a printed Statement of Intention of Candidacy form. There is not a filing fee for this office. The Statement of Intention of Candidacy may be downloaded from https://www.scvotes.gov/.

Candidates filing for the following Watershed Districts will file with the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County (222 McDaniel Ave., B-9, Pickens, SC 29671):

  • Georges Creek Watershed (Code 15)—Three (3) seats
  • Oolenoy River Watershed (Code 24)—Two (2) seats

Candidates filing for the following Watershed Districts will file with the SC State Election Commission (1122 Lady St., Ste. 500, Columbia, SC 29201; Phone: 803-734-9060):

  • Brushy Creek Watershed (Code 07)—Two (2) seats

Pickens County School Board Candidate Filing

Noon, August 01, 2024 through noon, August 15, 2024

The Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County announces the election of the Pickens County School Board Trustees for districts One (1), Three (3), and Five (5) on Tuesday, November 05, 2024. This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. The offices will be included on the ballot of the November 05, 2024 General Election. Only the electors living within districts up for election may participate in this election.

Citizens desiring to be candidates for one of the above listed School Board Trustee offices may file at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County (222 McDaniel Ave., B-9, Pickens, SC 29671) during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon-Fri) during the filing period. Walk-in filing is acceptable, but an appointment is preferred. To make an appointment, please call (864) 898-5948 or email Vote.Pickens@elections.sc.gov.

Filing for candidates opens at noon on August 01, 2024, and closes at noon on August 15, 2024. At the time of filing, each candidate must complete a Statement of Candidacy Form and pay the filing fee. The filing fee for this office is equal to one percent (1%) of the total salary for the term (4 years) of this office. The filing fee will be $120 if the School Board’s salary remains constant. Checks must be made payable to the Pickens County Treasurer. (Our office is unable to accept debit or credit cards.)

Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the State Ethics Commission at https://ethics.sc.gov. Contact the State Ethics Commission for more information. If not completed in a timely manner, you may be subject to a fine by the Ethics Commission.


Senate Redistricting effective Jan. 01, 2024
