Due to demographic changes and growth in number of registered voters, the SC State Legislature passed new precinct lines for Pickens County that will be in effect for the November 6, 2012 General Election, increasing the county from 52-precincts to 61-precincts. You can view a list of the complete precincts and polling places here. This means that some voters will be voting at a different precinct or voting location than they have in the past. This will result in far shorter lines on Election Day and an overall better voting experience for all voters.
The Pickens County Registration and Elections Commission is currently in the process of implementing these precinct changes. Very soon the Commission will issue new voter registration cards to all registered voters in the county. The Commission strongly encourages all registered voters who have moved, changed their address, or changed their name to update their information on file with our office as soon as possible.
To ensure everyone receives his or her new card, it is imperative that the Commission has everyone’s correct address on file. All address changes must be submitted in writing with the voter’s signature, the Commission cannot take the changes via a phone call. There are several ways voters can update their information:
- Voters can complete the change of address portion of the back of their current registration card (assuming they have not changed counties) and mail this to our office (222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens, SC 29671), or
- Voters can download an application on our website PickensElections.org by clicking the Register to Vote or Update Your Information link on the right hand side of the page. The voter then needs to complete the form and send it to our office. The form can be faxed, emailed, or mailed to our office (222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens SC 29671), or
- By calling 864-898-5948 or 864-898-5949 and requesting that we mail a new voter registration application to the voter, or
- Appearing in-person at our office and completing a new voter registration application.
