On March 30, 2012, Clemson Mayor Elect JC Cook submitted his resignation from Clemson City Council. In accordance with SC Code of Laws 5-7-200(b) and 7-13-190, a special election shall be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 to fill his unexpired term on Clemson City Council which ends December 2012. This is a non-partisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.
Registered voters who have lived in and have been a resident of this municipality for a period of not less than 6-months immediately preceding the date of this election may file as a candidate beginning at Noon on Friday, April 20, 2012 until filing closes at Noon on Monday, April 30, 2012. Candidates will file with the City Clerk at the Clemson City Hall (1250 Tiger Blvd. Ste. 1 Clemson, SC 29631) during normal business hours. At the time of filing, each candidate must complete a Statement of Intention of Candidacy Form, pay the filing fee and present proof that they have filed their Statement of Economics Interests form online at the SC State Ethics Commission website (http://ethics.sc.gov).
In accordance with SC Code of Laws 7-13-190 (E), no special election shall be held if only one candidate files during the filing period and no person has filed a written declaration to be a write-in candidate with the City Clerk by Noon on Monday, May 14, 2012.
Every person offering to vote in this Special Election must be duly registered on the County Books of Registration, as an elector and a resident of the City of Clemson, 30 days prior to the date of election. The last day to register to vote (or update your voter registration information) for this Special Election will be Saturday, May 26, 2012.
The following Pickens County precincts and polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.:

The processing of absentee ballots will begin at 9:00am on election morning, June 26, 2012, in the Office of the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission in the Pickens County Administration Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave, Pickens, SC 29671.
The provisional ballot hearing and canvass for this Municipal Election will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 9:00am in the County Council Chambers inside the Pickens County Administration Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave, Pickens SC 29671.
