Notice of Election for City of Liberty Special Election

This notice is to the voters in the City of Liberty, South Carolina that a Special Election will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 to fill the unexpired City Council term of Eric Boughman.  This is a non-partisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.

Every person offering to vote in this Special Election must be duly registered on the County Books of Registration for Pickens County, as an elector and a resident of the City of Liberty, thirty days prior to the date of election.  The last day to register to vote (or update your voter registration information) for this Special Election will be Saturday, April 28, 2012.  To register to vote in Pickens County or update your address and/or other voter registration information:

  • Visit the Office of the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens,SC 29671. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5:00 pm, or
  • Visit our website: http://pickenselections.org/, download, complete, and print the voter registration application, and either:
    • Mail the application to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens,SC 29671. (must be postmarked by April 28, 2012), or
    • Fax the application to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 864-898-5637 (must be received by April 28, 2012), or
    • Scan the application and email the image as a file attachment to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at the following email address: staceyf@co.pickens.sc.us (must be received by April 28, 2012).

The following precincts and polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.:

129Liberty I –Liberty First Baptist Church– 403 Edgemont Ave. Liberty, SC 29657

130Liberty II –Eastside Baptist Church– 920 Anderson Dr.Liberty, SC 29657

The processing of absentee ballots will begin at 9:00 am on election morning, May 29, 2012, in the Office of the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission in the Pickens County Administration Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave. Pickens, SC 29671.

The provisional ballot hearing and canvass for this Special Election will be held Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 9:00 am in the Conference room behind the Auditorium inside the Pickens County Administration Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave. Pickens, SC 29671.

Registered electors who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot.  Absentee ballot application requests can be made by going to our website: http://pickenselections.org/absentee-application-request/

Absentee ballot application requests can also be made by calling 864-898-5948, sending an email to staceyf@co.pickens.sc.us, or by coming in-person to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission in the Administrative Facility located at 222 McDaniel Ave. Pickens, SC 29671.

A runoff election, if necessary, will be held two weeks after the election on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
