January 10, 2012 Commission Meeting Agenda

A regular monthly meeting of the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 4:30pm in the Auditorium of the Pickens County Administration Facility.

The following items are on the agenda:

IV. Public Comment

This is an opportunity for citizens to come before the Commission with various issues. Citizens who wish to speak during the public comment period do not have to register or signup in advance. Each person is limited to 5-minutes of speaking time. Maximum total public comment time is 20 minutes.

VII. Motion period for old and new business

a. Old Business

1. Second Reading: Consider amending Section III of the Organizational Rules for the Pickens County Registration and Elections Commission so as to read, “The Commission discourages the Registration and Elections Director from participating in any partisan political function with the exception of voting in the primaries.”

b. New Business

1. Consider adopting a resolution to officially request that the Municipal Councils of Central, Clemson, Easley, Liberty, Norris, Six Mile, and Pickens each pass amendments to their election ordinances changing the 2-week filing period for their regular November elections so that the filing period would end at Noon, August 1st or, if August 1st falls on a Saturday or Sunday, not later than Noon on the following Monday.

2. Consider permanently moving the voting location of Precinct 151 Dacusville I from the Dacusville Rural Fire Department back to the old Dacusville Elementary School, which is now a county owned building,  for all elections starting with the June 2012 Primaries.

3. Consider recommending to the Pickens County Legislative Delegation precinct line adjustments and creation of new voting precincts as necessary due to growth of the number registered voters and district reapportionment.
