December 21st Voter Registration Deadline Approaches

To help ensure voters are prepared for the upcoming Republican Presidential Preference Primary Election, the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission wants to remind everyone of the upcoming voter registration deadline and urge those already registered to update their information.

Those who wish to vote in the Republican Presidential Preference Primary Election on January 21, 2012 must be registered by December 21, 2011. Voters who have moved from one county to another must be registered to vote in their new county by December 21st.  Voters who have moved from one location to another within Pickens County should update their information with our office by December 21st.

Those who are 17-years old now but will be 18-years old on or before November 6, 2012 can register to vote now. As long as they register to vote by December 21st they will be eligible to vote in the January 21, 2012  Republican Presidential Preference Primary Election.

TO REGISTER IN PICKENS COUNTY:

  • Visit the office of the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens, SC 29671. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5:00pm.
  • Download a voter registration form from pickenselections.org, complete the form, and either:
    • Mail the form to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens, SC 29671. (must be postmarked by December 21st),
    • Fax the form to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 864-898-5637 (must be received by December 21st), or
    • Scan the form and email the image as a file attachment to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at the following email address: staceyf@co.pickens.sc.us (must be received by December 21st).  Attachment cannot be larger than 3mb in size.

TO UPDATE YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION IN PICKENS COUNTY:

Current registered voters who may have moved within Pickens County or changed their name can help ensure a smoother voting process for themselves – and their neighbors – by making sure their registration is up to date. Having accurate registration information helps ensure a voter’s eligibility to vote in an election. It also reduces the potential for delays in the sign-in process at polling places – and that can have a significant impact on wait time for all voters. To update your voter registration:

  • Download the Voter Registration form from pickenselections.org and return it to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens, SC 29671.
  • Update the information on the back of your voter registration card and return it to the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens, SC 29671. (Not applicable to voters who have moved from one county to another. These voters must submit a voter registration application to their new county.)
  • Visit the Pickens County Registration & Elections Commission office at 222 McDaniel Ave B-9 Pickens, SC 29671.
