The Pickens County Registrations and Elections Office will be conducting the City of Pickens Special Municipal Election on Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Pat Welborn. A runoff election (if necessary) will be held two weeks later on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. This is a non-partisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. The following offices will be on the ballot for Pickens- 1 City Council Seat.
Residents of the City of Pickens who would like to file as a candidate in this election may do so beginning at Noon on Friday, January 16, 2009 until Noon on Monday, January 26, 2009. Candidates will file at the Pickens City Hall (219 Pendleton Street Pickens, SC 29671) during normal business hours Monday through Friday (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) with the City Clerk. Candidates must be a registered voter in the City of Pickens at least thirty days prior to the election.
At the time of filing, each candidate must complete a Statement of Candidacy, Statement of Economic Interest, and pay the filing fee. The filing fee is $50.00.
